Churches are not very effective in training people to be good communicators of Christian faith to the secular world.
Churches typically use the preaching method – one-way communication – which gets immediate push-back in the secular world today. Respectful dialog is what works today, with lots of questions and answers. So Christians need to be prepared for spontaneous discussion.
Unbelievers don't care much about what your church teaches. They want to know what YOU believe – and why – and they expect coherent and well-informed answers to their questions.
